What's in a Number Plate : The Superstitious and the Stupidtitous

What's in a number plate?

To the ever superstitious BolehLand folks, yes, we are a superstitious lot even if we claim we are modern, the world's most social media addicts, holier-than-thou religious bigots, the world's best democracy, civil servant, even education system - we are still a superstitious lot.

The signs of our superstitious behaviour and superstition ruling our lives in BolehLand are all too obvious.

It's on our bodies, it's what we wear and accessorise ourselves, it's in our homes, our businesses, even religion. It's everywhere.

From Kings to Prime Ministers, politicians to common folks, the holy and sinners, we are a superstitious lot. We are obsess with the correct number, the correct colour (yellow has it's fallout too even if it's the national and royal colour too), the correct date, even the correct sounding name of something! Hmm wonder if one is committing sedition by making an observation we are a superstitious lot hah!

Walk around the pasar malam or the bazaar, the shopping complexes and markets, you see all kinds of talisman being peddled to the superstitious lot we are. You hear of stories of the greener the jade or the darker the ruby the more luck. Even those who pass out edicts and fatwas spot green, turquoise, dark or blood red ring or two in one hand!

Good luck charm we convince ourselves and we are told. The number of crucifix or crosses around my home is supposed to ward off all the devils, including statues of Mary, rosary beads and bibles and prayer books, 'God Bless our Home, Kitchen and any nook and corner of the house signs abound in some homes. Even the car or your key chain has St. Christopher medallion to keep you safe. Yes indeed, so many religious relics that border on superstitions at times eh? While we surround and make our homes, offices and religious places with a ring of holiness to ward off evil spirits, the irony is inside our firewall of holiness lurks the devil or devils right? Ourselves, though some think themselves holier than thou and the rest as hypocritical devils and sinners?

So we are superstitious with objects, then there is colour and the one that many BolehLand folks are super superstitious is numbers and the number game? Our leaders consult the book of numbers and the heavens besides putting hand on holy books and bowing down to the Almighty. There is favourite number for almost anything in BolehLand's life.

Favourite as in lucky number any digit from 0 to 9 is someone's good luck number or another's bad luck ominous digit yes? While some holy leaders riled and rebuke the citizens for not following the faith, splitting the race by not respecting the faith, they play with numbers. They bet if they choose their lucky number for an election or launch a campaign or slogan or building, almost anything, it will bring them immense luck and fortune. It's a sort of gambling though they don't want to admit it.

Right now, noone knows what is 1Malaysia's lucky month and date for the election. Even God has no idea and perhaps the only two people who know it are likely the official prime minister and the real prime minister either the flip or the flom hah!

The most visible sign that we are a superstitious lot is the motor number plate, that includes the alphabet and the digit. So when our MCA leader Liow TL claims WWW15 is just a number,it's a 'Logik Tak Logik' statement. Either he ain't no China apek or a reborn whatever faith(s) he subscribe to or the only BolehLand folks who ain't superstitious like the whole bunch of us. Or he is a downright liar and making a stupidtitious statement.

The stupidtitous statement goes beyond just the 15 which is considered lucky if you ask the China apek from Malacca. It's the claim that there was no money being used to bid for that number plate! Considering it is common knowledge that single an double, treble and quadruple digit numbers are up for lelong. Our MCA fellow is making the JPJ fellows like liars which means JPJ's public list of bidders contained false information for the bid, the bidder and bid price for 'WWW 15' right?

Somebody's head needs to be examined about who is telling the truth or lying. And also if it's true for the first time in the Chinese race since the dawn of time, a China apek from Bolehland has declared himself not superstitous huh? But then, this is BolehLand right?

Ok, politicians are given a free number plate and our pampered lot are privileged while the rest of us taxpayers pay them to have those privileges.

Since the fiasco surfaced there has been a lot of flip flops and now the JPJ has made a gostan (like our MCA leader having so many gostan replies to how he got it or did he bid for it or someone paid for him or he got it free) and is now saying he can have it free by virtue of Cabinet status privilege, or pay for the highest bidder price of RM24k or reject it!

Someone bid for it and now it seems our privileged Cabinet MCA minister has super power to override the highest bidder. It shows in BolehLand, our politicians are 'kings' who can override your rights. As if we didn't know that already hah! Him getting a free good number plate makes him more powerful and privileged than the one who bid for WWW 1 right?

So if our China apek says he is not superstitious why 15 not 14 or 967 or 69 or 1196 or 114 and let the highest bidder get it?

Our MCA China apek makes us other china apek like stupidtitous folks into believing there is nothing superstitious in the selection of the number 15. Why bother it's an official car and if it's free why are they given the privilege to have their way and insult us?

So is our MCA China apek finally going to get his WWW 15 and think it has nothing to do with superstition? It would be interesting if our LTL would reject it because if he took it for free, we have so much more respect for the royalty with class, who bid WWW 1!

It's just a number so he said. And if he took it for free, yes indeed, it's just a number which will now remind all those who catch a glimpse of WWW 15 on the road, they will be reminded, the car belongs to the only non superstitious fellow in Bolehland and in the Chinese race we can supposed.

 What's in a number plate?

Or most folks seeing WWW 15 on the road would think in it sits the superstitious and the stupidtitious alike huh?
