Are NS trainees BN brigades?

The National Service (NS) billions of ringgit spent is meant to ehmm... well, one isn't sure what the end game is. The original intention is to get our youths to be good citizens and so it seems. But if we can remember, the government realised the youths were not engaged with what is happening, more specifically didn't know what the heck the government was doing GOOD for the country.

So some wise politicians from the BN camp very likely, thought up of a billion ringgit programme to get these youths together (at the same time make some cronies in the highest offices filthy greenish rich from supplying the blue uniforms, etc), then do a mini teenager BTN (Biro Tatanegara) programme on them and to not make is so obvious, add in those character building exercises. When it came to the nation building lessons, you get a chance to teach our kids - civics, to probably admitting the kids were doing a GIGO on the civic lessons in school.

So you have a ready made thousands of impressionable and gullible youths who whether they like it or not are forced to for 3 months undergo some kind of sublimation that everything the government does is good and for the good of all. Everyone has a place in the sun, which is true when the kids have to all do their morning drill under the sun.

The NS is not an obvious kind of North Korea commie like camp really because you do allow the kids to feel they are not being brainwashed as they can bring along their teddy bears and kittie kats.

The kids do get something out of it. For one, how bad and inefficient the authorities are at providing them with some decent sustenance and preventing some to die along the way. And to those who think it is some propaganda feel good about the government only boot camp, they would be soon disillusioned when they return home and open the paper or surf blogsphere to see the kind of battle front being engaged and even promoted in BolehLand among adults using race, religion, colour and privileges and what not at their disposal.

Those clever BN politicians think they have finally devised a scheme where they are able to mould the young from school to the NS to only have a love for their great leader, the UMNO and BN kind. And to be told you need to be thankful and show your gratitude to all the development, progress, twin towers and what not that the glorious leaders and party have done for them.

Of course, there is no denial that the youths, not sure how many, do get something out of it. Some become more extrovert, some are more open, some benefited by increasing their Facebook fans. And more importantly too, the NS youths are seemed to be better off than those who didn't go, those not picked which is no fault of theirs really. The NS youths will get special cards and discounts and will get preference compared to those who didn't go. By virtue of providing such privileges and make them into some sort of elitist group as opposed to those who didn't go, we are preparing them to feel the reality of BolehLand - rights and privileges are accorded to some and not to others!

So in their attempt to create a more united youth, the government is already making them feel the distinction. Is it any a surprise that inequality is being preached and practiced when the government itself perpetuates such distinction?

There is no denying that the NS camp will change youths lives. Whether as intended is difficult to gauge. But it is commendable to offer these NS youths post activities like forming voluntary brigades and making them become more responsible. Volunteerism for egalitarian reasons should always be encouraged.

But if the volunteerism they are engaged in has people wearing party logos and t-shirts to remind who is doing their bit, it a wee bit hypocritical right? It's like enlarging the RELA members which does not mean we feel more secure under their watch. Those who have encountered these RELA fellows in peaceful gatherings will be able to share about their supposedly impartiality. Which brings to the question, are all these supposedly voluntary brigades, RELA and ex NS trainees intended for what they are supposed to be or is there a political agenda in them?

As it is everything from the living to the dead in BolehLand has a political agenda if you care to use your mind to map its original intention and intended outcome, no?

Perhaps 1Malaysia's rather exultant tone in the NS trainees gathering at Bukit Jalil Stadium may give some clue of the NS programme and intention to set up a voluntary brigade. "At that time, there were many skeptics who doubted the programme. Your presence tonight, all 15,000 of you, proved that this programme has given birth to a generation that upholds moral values and committed to the cause of nation-building."

Of course this writer will be accused of unnecessarily being a bigot and unwarranted skeptic to a noble and good intention programme if he questions about asking our impressionable and virgin territory mind of these teenagers to 'uphold moral values and committed to the cause of nation-building', yes?

Ok, there is good from getting the youths together, making them suffer being deprived of their technological wear, pun intended, and letting them know other races exist. But then, are they not supposed to know and have all these at schools too? Or are we told schools has been a bad breeding ground for lack of patriotism and nationalism, towards the great leaders and government huh? Blame the teachers, kids, curriculum or the MOE?

Is the NS programme successful because you managed to get 15,000 to attend when they are still undergoing the training? Is that any indication of unity? Perhaps if it was open to ex NS fellos to go to the stadium and 15,000 ex NS fellos did go, then it is really a HUGE success, right?

Yes, it is successful to convince skeptics and cynical fellows like yours truly that the programme was successful because the youths have been transformed to be patriotic and nationalist giving us hope of a united and lasting stable government we can supposed.

And those who are ready to ketuk critics and skeptics would care to just sit back and enjoy the show the teenagers put up. As reported in the pro BN/UMNO MSMedia at the Stadium with 1Malaysia we can supposed feeling confident and assured UMNO and BN has got another 15,000 future voters because, "The teenagers also put up a skit combining songs and a multimedia presentation to illustrate Najib’s progress in the political arena."

Hmm, perhaps 1Malaysia doesn't need this extra 15,000 BN votes in the future. Given the NS teenagers glorious praise of the great leader and party, hey, our teenagers will now convince their family members to vote for the glorious leader and government because our 15,000 NS teenagers are so convinced, c@#$sure and have shown great patriotism and nationalism in their skit 'combining songs and a multimedia presentation to illustrate Najib’s progress in the political arena.'...Star, Oct 15, 2011.

Makes the NS programme some ala teenager BTN programme eh? or is the MSMedia fellows also former NS trainees or the adult version BTN recruits?

Pakatan fellows have lots on their hands especially their kids in the NS camps! So much for our youths having a mind of their own, right? Which is rather odd because teenagers as parents will tell you will rebel against authority and go off tangent?

Makes one wonder if 1Malaysia and all those who are willing to spend billions on reforming, brainwashing, call it what you like, of the teenagers in the NS programme can do a better job than parents in turning these current 15,000, including the past and future attendees to follow the authority of the great 1Malaysia leader and his UMNO/BN party, huh and hold skits 'combining songs and a multimedia presentation to illustrate Najib’s progress in the political arena'.

Now if only the 15,000 NS recruits will convince their family members to vote for 1Malaysia, the NS programme would achieve its KPI, right?

So are the NS graduates voluntary brigades or being turned into and masquerading as UMNO/BN brigades, huh?
